Steve was born in Spain, but his family moved to New York when he was just seven years old.  He started skating so that something would occupy his time.  When his parents realized that he really could make something out of this “hobby,” they decided he would have a better chance competing against skaters from Spain, so he continues to  represent his first country, as one of it’s brightest hopes to earn a place in skating.
