Gwen is a Dance/ Martial Arts instructor for KMAS, and Makoto is an aspiring young skater.

Gwen was born in London, England, to an English mother and a Japanese father.  Her father died in a car crash when she was very young, and her mother passed away soon after due to an unexpected heart attack.  Gwen lived with her aunt, Katherine, in London until she was 18, at which point Katherine died of old age.  She married Akira Kou when she was 19, and had Makoto a little less than a year after. Akira died on a business trip to Mexico, where he was caught in the crossfire of the "Zapatista" uprising. Since then, Gwen has moved from place to place because of her need to give Makoto, the only bit of Akira she has left, any thing she wants, which is skating.
